93 Days. Five Countries.
Turning an unstructured travel archive into a visual story with AI.
During 93 days of travel across five African countries, I accumulated hundreds of photographs, notes and memories. Rather than document every stop, I selected highlights from the journey and used AI to help organize the archive, connect photographs to experiences, identify themes and sequence those moments into a digital book, while keeping the experiences, judgment and voice my own.

I Didn't Know What Was Coming Next.
My friend had planned much of Cape Town, so I often discovered the day as it happened. Table Mountain began with a rotating cable car, changing views in every direction and a little nervousness from me as we climbed. At the top I wandered among enormous rock formations and unusual vegetation with Cape Town spread out below.

The Boat Didn't Go.
Rough water cancelled my Robben Island boat trip. My driver rearranged the day, and instead of getting on a boat, I was about to take my first helicopter ride.

Then, from my first helicopter ride, there it was below me, the island I had been unable to reach by sea.

I sat beside the pilot with Cape Town spread out beneath me. From the air, I could see Table Mountain from an entirely different perspective after having stood on it myself. For my first helicopter ride, I couldn't have asked for a better view.

Then We Slowed Down.
The Cape Winelands gave me beautiful surroundings, wine and something I never expected, a new friendship. This is where I met Nekesa for the first time, and we immediately connected. I had no idea then that our paths would cross again in Kenya, where her friendship, generosity and help would become an important part of my journey.

Welcome to Idube.
Now the rhythm changed completely. I traded Cape Town, wine and leisurely days in the Winelands for an African safari and incredible wildlife. The next adventure was about to begin.

Safari Highlights at Idube
Game drives at Idube brought one extraordinary sighting after another: lions resting in the grass, leopards remarkably close to the vehicle, African wild dogs moving through the bush, and giraffes towering above the trees.

Next Stop, Zimbabwe.
From Cape Town to the Winelands and the wildlife of Idube, South Africa had already given me more than I expected. But the journey wasn't slowing down.

Sometimes nature is so beautiful that words simply aren't enough.

Chasing a Lion Through the African Bush
One minute we were driving quietly through the bush. The next, we were racing after a lion. Bouncing around in the safari vehicle, hanging on and trying not to lose sight of him was exhilarating. This is the part of safari photographs don't capture.

Yes, I Actually Petted a Cheetah
There are moments when you know you probably should be nervous, but you're far too excited to think about it. Standing this close to a cheetah and actually reaching out to touch him was one of those moments. Definitely not an ordinary day in Africa.

I thought I understood the scale of Victoria Falls from the ground. Then I saw it from the air.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience
Victoria Falls, chasing a lion through the African bush, and actually petting a cheetah. Zimbabwe gave me experiences I will remember for the rest of my life.

When an Elephant Comes Charging
There is nothing quite like watching an elephant come charging toward your safari vehicle. Thankfully, I wasn't sitting in the front seat. I would have peed my pants.
OKAVANGO DELTA
Into the Okavango Delta
From a charging elephant to the quiet of the Okavango Delta. I traded the safari vehicle for a traditional mokoro canoe and glided through the waterways. A completely different way to experience Botswana.

Eye Level With the Okavango
From the mokoro, I was almost at eye level with the water, gliding quietly through the reeds and water lilies. It felt less like looking at the Okavango and more like being inside it.

From Adrenaline to Stillness
From an elephant charging the safari vehicle to gliding quietly through the waters of the Okavango Delta, Botswana gave me two completely different sides of the wild.

KENYA
From South Africa to Kenya
I met Nekesa earlier in this journey in South Africa, and now I was seeing her again in Kenya. That became one of the best parts of my time there. Travel gives you incredible places, cultures and experiences, but sometimes the greatest gift is the friendships you make along the way.

More Than One Kind of Adventure
Safari and a hot air balloon gave me another view of Kenya. On subsequent days, I spent time with the Maasai, watched traditional beadwork being made, visited a cultural center and spent time meeting family.

There was still so much more to see, experience and discover. And Tanzania would become a story all its own.
